How rubber is made?| rubber manufacturing process.

How to start a rubber manufacturing business?

Rubber manufacturing process has spread all over the world because we need different types of fibers in different types of products like clothing, tires, gaskets, bags, slippers. we use rubber in these different types of products.

Rubber, which comes from plants that thrive in equatorial climates, was first found in the Americas by European explorers, who came across Mayan indians wearing water-proof shoes and bottles made of the material.

He returned to Europe with some Mayan rubber pieces, which piqued his interest.

Many European adventurers followed suit over the next few centuries. When an English chemist named Joseph Priestley found that hardened bits of rubber could remove pencil traces, he coined the term rubber.

By the late eighteenth century, European scientists had figured out that dissolving rubber in turpentine produced a liquid that could be used for a variety of purposes.

Natural rubber is produced from hevea Brasiliensis and ficus elastica mainly. Hevea is produced from Amazon Africa and ficus elastica produce in Asia it is also called the Indian rubber tree.

There are also in the southwestern United States have rubber trees like guayule shrub, parthenium argentatum which grow in hot regions.

There are two main types of rubbers one is natural rubber and the second is synthetic rubber we use rubber for industrial purposes and also as in-home appliances.

Asia is one of the largest rubber producers from rubber plantations and synthetic rubber is produced all over the world.

There are different types of manufacturing processes of rubbers but there are some of the common manufacturing processes like extrusion, latex, dipping, molding, and calendering.

how is rubber made from trees?

Natural rubber production

There is a step by step rubber manufacturing process. let’s see one by one. Natural rubber is derived from a rubber plantation. But before the harvesting of rubber plants, it must be grown for 7 years then it is viable for cultivation.

To get latex from the trees of rubber plants we will have to slightly cut on the trees to get latex drainage. you will get latex from that cut once per day.

Such a tapping process occurs 2 to 3 days but never more often once in a day. When the same area of the tree is tapped completely then you can repeat the process for the new portion of the same tree.

It will take 7 years to heal that cut of the rubber trees and then it is ready for the next tapping process after 7 years.

Coagulation is the most common method to extract rubber from the latex. Coagulation is the process that makes the thickness of polyisoprene into mass. This process almost takes 12 hours to complete.

Now diluted acid-like formic acid is mixed with the latex and rolled twice. The first rolling is to remove excess water and the second rolling is to texture the rubber.

After squeezing the all water from rubber it resulted in 1/8 inch of thin shit and it is dried into smokehouse or using hot air it’s also called air-dried sheet.

This type of process will give you a good grade of rubber or even higher quality rubber.

After the completion of this process, it is ready to be sold and export to other countries.

how is synthetic rubber made?

Do you know how synthetic rubber production begins? it is a cool process.

  • It begins with the refining of oil coal and other hydrocarbons. Naphtha is produced during the refining process.
  • Monomers are the necessary product to manufacture synthetic rubber that’s why naphtha is combined with natural gas to make monomers like Styrene and isoprene.
  • Then this monomer goes to some processes like the emulsion polymerization process or solution polymerization process.
  • Our idea is to create chains of polymers that will create a substance like rubber or latex. Both processes will do the same to make rubber.

Now, these substances go under some processes using some techniques like vulcanization to produce synthetic rubber which is used for tire production.

Types of synthetic rubber:

1)Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) is a polymer made from styrene and butadiene. Those compounds are made from petroleum at an oil refinery before being combined in a 25/75 styrene/butadiene mix.

2)Butyl rubber is a copolymer made up of isobutylene and isoprene – isobutylene is a methyl-propylene compound, and isoprene renders the rubber unsaturated and vulcanisable.

3)Fluoroelastomers are a kind of copolymer that was created by combining hexafluoropropylene and vinylidene. Aquaseal adjusts the quality of our fluoroelastomers to meet the demands of our clients, allowing us to have premium, long-lasting durability even under the most extreme conditions.

4)Neoprene
Polychloroprene, a composite made up of chloroprene, acetylene, and hydrochloric acid, is the basis for neoprene rubbers. Aquaseal creates high-quality neoprene by altering the chemical composition of polychloroprene and inserting additional elements to ensure a wide variety of chemical properties in the final product.

5)Monomer of ethylene propylene diene (EPDM): Ethylene and propylene are used to make EPDM rubber. To treat the rubber with sulphur, Aquaseal adds a slight amount of diene to these compounds. EPDM is formed when their chemical composition is changed to that of an unsaturated polymer.

6)Silicone
Silicone rubber is an inorganic polymer made up of silicone and oxygen that Aquaseal can strengthen by applying a variety of chemicals. Fluorine makes silicone rubber compounds solvent-resistant; phenyl improves low-temperature stability and absorbs gamma radiation; and vinyl improves vulcanization performance.

7)Buna N rubber (also called regular Nitrile rubber) is a synthetic rubber made up of two copolymers: acrylonitrile and butadiene. Since acrylonitrile is a volatile organic solvent, a reaction occurs as it comes into contact with butadiene (a synthetic chemical compound), resulting in Buna N rubber.

License and registration for rubber manufacturing process.

  • You can start this business as a proprietorship or in a partnership as a private limited company or a limited liability partnership with a registrar of companies.
  • you will have to get a GST number which is required for any type of business.
  • You also need to get a trade license
  • If you want to create your brand in a cover manufacturing industry you will have to register your trademark also.
  • IEC code is also important for your expert in business if you want to export your manufacturer rubber then you will need this IEC code

Where to sell your rubber product?

If you are just supplying rubber to all industrial manufacturers then you need to establish your profile on the B2B market B2B market system will generate leads for you to get you targeted customers you can post your profile on alibaba.com tradeindia.com and indiamart.com to get your targeted customers.

if you are just supplying the rubber to means in your country then you do not need to sell on b2c market like Amazon Snapdeal Flipkart because these b2c markets are useful for retailers not for wholesalers.

You can also promote your rubber manufacturing industry on social media platforms like Instagram Facebook in your WhatsApp groups in Facebook groups or Telegram groups.

Who are your targeted customers?
Many small-scale or large-scale industries need rubber textile to produce other products like gloves, condoms, tires, bags. and also it is needed in the clothing industry.

That’s why you can target this type of manufacturing industry where you can sell your rubber textile.
